Benbecula approach/tower are open during aerodrome hours, however, sometimes these may be FISO due to training. Outside of aerodrome hours FIS may be provided for ambulance and search and rescue flights only

Runway 24 is the preferential runway for arrivals and runway 06 is the preferential runway for departures when there is a tailwind component of 5 knots or less and the runway is dry

Circuits
Circuits occur at a height of 1000 feet QFE
Circuits are left hand for runways 06, 17 and 35
Circuits are right hand for runway 24
Warnings
Intensive military activity takes place in the vicinity of the aerodrome
ATS/ATIS will advise EG D701A-F, Y and EG D704 activity
Instrument approaches to runway 06 may not be available or may be restricted during periods of activity. The entry procedure from BEN VOR and the BBA NDB, for instrument approaches to runway 24, may not be available or may be restricted during periods of activity
The aerodrome is frequently opened for Air Ambulance and Search and Rescue flights outside of published hours
The use of the aerodrome is unavailable for ‘out of hours’ permit holders due to airport security restrictions
All taxiways are closed, except between the threshold of runway 06 and the apron
There are no marked parking stands on the apron due to rapid changes in wind conditions, marshallers will be provided
Use of runway 17/35 is subject to standing water west of the runway centreline
Grass areas are soft and unsafe. Poor load bearing characteristics may be found on the runway/taxiway strips and the area adjacent to the apron. Only marked taxiways are to be used
The apron area is subject to aerodrome security procedures during published hours
Flocks of geese are present on, and in fields adjacent to, the aerodrome all year round
Runway 24 during strong winds, moderate turbulence may be experienced on final between 8 to 4 nautical miles
