VFR arrivals are to contact Benson Zone as soon as possible and preferably no later than 5 nautical miles before the MATZ boundary
Preferential Runway
Runway 01 is the preferential runway when there is a tailwind component of 5 knots or less and the runway is dry
Circuits
Military oval circuits are the norm and operate right hand on runway 01
Locally based aircraft may give late final calls
If instructed to break off from an instrument approach and fly through the dead side, then climb to circuit height before rejoining the circuit at the upwind end of the runway.
Circuits heights are as follows:
Large props/fast jets: 1300 feet QFE
Rotary: 1000 feet QFE
Light aircraft: 800 feet QFE
Rotary under slung load: 500 feet QFE

Civilian aircraft above 10 tonnes and/or 19 seats (including crew) cannot be accepted
Intensive helicopter and initial pilot training activity within the MATZ
Light aircraft and helicopter activity may take place when ATC is closed including evenings, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.; Landing lights to be switched on for visual circuits or when 3 nautical miles on instrument approach
Pilots are to avoid overflying Wallingford and the villages of Benson and Ewelme and where possible, villages of Berrick Salome and Roke not below 500 feet QFE
Expect to vacate the runway at point Y
