Arrival and departure procedures
Owing to the proximity to RAF Shawbury and RAF Ternhill, the following arrival and departure procedures have been agreed with Shawbury SATCO
Arrivals
Pilots should contact Shawbury Zone on 133.150 which 20 nautical miles from Tilstock. Shawbury will provide LARS or FIS and radar vectoring if required
Departures
Notify Shawbury ATC by telephone at least 10 minutes prior to take off. Announce Tilstock departure and give flight details
When airbourne remain VMC and contact Shawbury Radar on 133.150, climbing not above height 1000 feet (Tilstock QFE) until in contact with radar or well clear of the extended centreline of Shawbury runway 19
After initial contact, or if no contact, turn either right from runway 32, or left from runway 14 onto heading 050 degrees. Remain VMC if possible, and continue the climb. Thereafter, turn onto desired track as agreed with Shawbury Radar or abeam Audlem
Evenings, weekends and public holidays: when Shawbury is engaged in limited flying and LARS is not available, departing aircraft should freecall Shawbury Tower on 122.100 when airbourne for flight activity on Shawbury and Ternhill activity

Pilots are requested to avoid overflying the area unless they have prior permission or are in direct radio contact with Tilstock radio
The concrete runway is to the east of A41 and is in reasonable condition but often has a muck heap at one end. The grass strip is adjacent to the concrete runway
Airfield is frequently closed for other events
